What is the Health Service Discounts Cashback Card?
The Health Service Discounts Cashback Card is a pre-paid debit card (NOT a credit card) that can be used anywhere in the world where you see the Visa® Acceptance Mark. Registration for the card is quick and easy. No credit checks.
The initial top up is £5.00 and then the subsequent minimum top up amount is £10 and the maximum is £1,000. The initial top up is required when you register for the card.
Following the activation of your card, you can start spending immediately. You can top up your card securely via your online account portal at www.healthservicediscounts.com/card or via the Spree App which can be downloaded from the App store, simply search for Spree Card.
Top ups are instant so once you’ve topped up, you can use the card and spend the balance as you would with any other debit card. In fact, it's exactly the same as using any other debit card except you will start to accumulate cashback when you spend at our retail partners.
Am I entitled to a cashback card?
The cashback card is only available to current employees within the Health Service Sector that have a work email address and cannot be redeemed by any other method at this time.
I’m retired, can I apply for a Cashback Card?
Unfortunately, our cashback card is not available to retired members of staff right now. We'd love to be able to open it up to retired members and appreciate the benefits it would bring, however at this time we are not able to due to our existing supplier agreements. We're working on this and hope to be able to include retired members of staff soon!
Until then as a member of our scheme there's a wide selection of online offers available through our website that you can take advantage of to make some fantastic savings.
Registering for a Card
Can I register straight away?
Yes, if you work within the Health Service Sector and have a current work email address.
What if I don't have a current work email address?
You must have a valid / current work email address. If you are employed within the health service sector and do not have a work email address, please contact your HR or IT department to obtain one.
Do I have to pay to have a Health Service Discounts Cashback Card?
The card is free for the first 12 months. An initial top up of just £5 is required when you register and after 12 months there is an annual fee of £2.99.
The fee is taken automatically deducted from your card balance.
Can I get an additional card on my account?
Yes, you can get an additional card with the same benefits as long as it's for someone in the same household as you.
Tick the "Would you like an additional card" box when you register or alternatively, you can order one via your online account at www.healthservicediscounts.com/card

How do additional cards work?
You both share one account and spend from one account balance, top ups can be made by either cardholder.
Both cards are sent separately and need to be activated by each card holder. Once they are activated, both can use the cards at retail partners earning cashback as you spend.
When will I receive my Card?
You will receive the card within approximately 7 working days from application, however, please allow up to 14 days to receive the card. Please note that this time frame also applies to reissued cards which have been lost, stolen or have expired. Will there be a credit check?
No, there are no credit checks or lengthy application processes. You fill-in an online form and apply instantly. We may use Personal information provided by you in order to conduct appropriate anti fraud checks. Personal Information that you provide may be disclosed to a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, which may keep a record of that information.
What is KYC and why do I need to verify my account?
KYC (Know Your Customer) is the process involving identifying and verifying the identity of members in order to facilitate compliance with Anti-Money Laundering laws (AML) and to protect our system from accidentally facilitating criminal activities.
Using Your Card
Where can I use my card?
Your card is accepted anywhere you see the Visa Acceptance mark which is at over 36 million retailers worldwide. It's just the same as using any other Visa debit card. But you will only earn cashback when you use the card at qualifying retailers.
Does it cost me anything to use my Health Service Discounts Cashback Card?
No - there are no transaction costs involved with the Health Service Discounts Cashback Card when used in the UK. For charges relating to use outside the UK, please refer to the Terms and Conditions.
Can I use it for shopping online?
Yes, your Cashback Card is accepted at most on-line retailers. It's just the same as using any other Visa debit card. Please note, some of our retailer partners do not offer cashback for online transactions.
How do I earn cashback using the Health Service Discounts Cashback Card?
Make sure your card is topped up with funds, start spending online or in-store at our retail partners to accumulate cashback and when you next top up, the cashback you have earned will automatically be credited to your account.
It usually takes about 5-7 days for your cashback purchases to be processed so please don't worry if not all your cashback appears if you top up quite soon after you have spent.
The exception is Sainsbury's due to their process for calculating cashback and this can result in a longer timeframe which could be 3 - 4 weeks. Where possible, we will always credit your account as soon as we are advised of the cashback to be awarded.
Where can I earn cashback?

Do I still receive loyalty points i.e. Nectar or Advantage?
Yes, all other retailer loyalty schemes and offers can be used alongside your card giving you even more value when spending with the Cashback Card.
Can I use my card abroad?
Yes, you can use your card anywhere the Visa Acceptance Mark is displayed, and prepaid cards are accepted, however a 2.5% foreign exchange fee will apply. See T&Cs for further details.
Can I use my card to withdraw cash?
Your card cannot be used for cash withdrawals at ATMs, for purchasing foreign currency, cash advances or cash back at the till.
Are there any restrictions on where I use my card?
There are a few restrictions such as gambling and adult websites. Please see the Terms and Conditions for more information.
Will I earn cashback on petrol?
Unfortunately, cashback cannot be earned on petrol or non-petrol items sold at petrol stations.
Will the range of retailer partners and their cashback rates change?
Occasionally we do add or remove retail partners but always aim to offer a comprehensive range of outlets where you can earn cashback.
Whilst we can't rule out any change governed by market forces, we will endeavour to maintain our current rates wherever possible. Please check the Cashback Hub as this maintains an up-to-date listing and cashback rates.
Topping Up Your Card
Can I access my account on-line?
Yes. Once you have registered, you can access the website 24/7 using the login details you created during your registration. Keep your login details safe as you will need them to access your online account in the future.
Your online account can be accessed at www.healthservicediscounts.com/card 24 hours a day.
You can also download the Spree App to top up your card, check your statement, balance, cashback earned & pending as well as block your card for those emergency situations.
Where do I top-up my card?
You can top-up your card online via your online account at www.healthservicediscounts.com/card or the Spree App 24 hrs a day.
You cannot top up your card using Paypoint, Payzone or at the Post Office.
Does it cost anything to top-up my Health Service Discounts Cashback Card?
No its FREE to top up your card.
We would recommend you set up a regular payment from your debit card for your top ups to take away the hassle. The 'Top Up Card' tab on your online account gives you a full breakdown of your top up options and any charges that are applicable.

Is there a minimum spend required to receive my cashback?
No, there is no minimum spend to receive your cashback. You just need to make sure you have sufficient funds on your card before you start spending.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
Please request a PIN reminder through the details tab on your online account or call 01908 303564 and select option 4 for 'forgotten PIN'.4 for forgotten PIN. PIN reminders are sent via SMS instantly if requesting via the Spree App.
What happens if my card is lost or stolen?
You must notify the Cashback Card support team immediately if your card is lost or stolen. Please call 01908 303564 and press option 3 for 'lost and stolen'. If you have Spree App, you can block your card instantly to prevent any further spend on your account.
You should treat this card as cash in your wallet. Please note that if you have lost your card a replacement card fee will apply. For further details, please refer to the fees table in the terms and conditions.
